MARRIAGE SERVICE FOR
FRED TORRES
(Religious Ceremony – non-religious also available)

Aloha and welcome (Groom) and (Bride), family and friends, in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

It is with great pleasure, we are gathered here today in the presence of God to witness the marriage of (Groom) and (Bride), promising them our support through our presence and prayers.  Let us pray.

PRAYER
Eternal Father, You have created us in love and for love, and made our hearts restless until we respond to love, to You and to each other.  Bless (Groom) and (Bride) who stand before us now.  We are thankful for all the love they bring to this occasion.  May they feel Your holy presence resting upon them as they now make their promises to each other.  In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray.  Amen.

VERSE BY THE SEA
We are here today in the spirit of love, the spirit we know intimately in these islands as the spirit of Aloha. We celebrate this new and exciting moment in your life’s journey.

Marriage is one of the most important obligations that any two people commit to in their lifetime.  Marriage offers the greatest challenges to overcome, but in return, marriage gives us love, strength and support from one another.  It is the couple who preserves and demonstrates unrelenting patience and faith who obtains the highest form of happiness within their marriage.  A good marriage is dependent upon many factors, but the first essential is a strong bond of friendship and respect for each other. your love for each other will grow deeper with the passing of each day, but genuine liking for each other, the willingness to accept each other’s strong and weak points with understanding and respect, is the foundation for a strong marriage.

SCRIPTURE READING – 1st CORINTHIANS 13:4-7,13
4) Love is patient and kind; love does not enby or boast; it is not arrogant 5) or rude.  It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [a] 6) it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.  7)  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  13) And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

HAWAIIAN CHANT OF WELCOME
Fragrance with the breath of hala and lehua, I long for your arrival, it fills me up with eagerness.  Now that you are here, love is here.  aloha.
Onaona i ka hala me ka lehua, he hale lehua no ia na ka noe, O ka’u no ia e ‘ano’i nei, E lia’a nei ho’i o ka hiki mai.  A hiki mai no ou kou, a hiki pu no me ke aloha, aloha e, aloha e, aloha e.

SHARING OF LEIS
For those of us who call Hawaii home, the flower lei is a symbol of love for us; it is also a symbol of things fragile and temporal. For a flower lei will only last for a day or two and then it is gone. Our lives are like the lei within the span of eternity. Therefore, live with tender consideration for each other, continue to love one another, and your marriage will last.  May the leis you now offer each other be recognized for the sincerity, love and commitment for each other.

THE WEDDING VOWS
The wedding vows are not only intentions and promises of a marriage, but it is also the foundation of a  husband and wife living together in love.

(Repeat after the minister) I, (Groom / Bride) take you (Bride / Groom) to be my wedded wife / husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy will; and I pledge to you, my faithfulness.  I promise to love you, honor you, and cherish you. I will be a companion to you. I will share my strengths and my achievements. I promise to respect you and be a friend to you for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health as long as we both shall live.

THE BLESSING OF THE RINGS
The wedding rings are a symbol of longevity in the marriage covenant. The circle of the ring symbolizes a never ending circle of love and commitment that you are making. Always see the best in each other and each day that you are together, when you look at the beauty of these rings, remember the love that you have for each other is forever. Let us pray.

Lord, we pray that You will bless these rings, so that these two who wear them, keeping faith with each other in unbroken loyalty, may ever remain at peace with You and be faithful to each other in mutual love.  Amen.

THE EXCHANGE OF RINGS
(Bride / Groom), receive this ring as a pledge and token of wedded love and faithfulness, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

THE DECLARATION
Having heard the vows you have made to each other, witnessed by these friends and loved ones, by the authority given to me, I declare that (Groom) and (Bride) are husband and wife in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.  What God has joined together, let no one separate.  Let us pray.

THE PRAYER
Please bow your heads in prayer with me:  Almighty and eternal God, grant that by Your blessing (Groom) and (Bride) may live together according to Your Word and promise.  Strengthen them in faithfulness and love toward each other.  Sustain and defend them in every trial and temptation.  Help them to live in faither toward You, in the communion of Your Holy Church, and in loving service to each other that they may ever enjoy Your heavenly blessing; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reins with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
