Meet Cherise

Owner + Lead Planner

I was born on the island of Oahu, then grew up in LA and Chicago before returning to Maui as a young adult. On my first trip back to the islands, I fell in love with Maui. On my second trip back to the islands I fell in love with my future husband! That clinched the deal – love the place, love the man, no way was I going back! That was ages ago and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. Maui is and always will be “home”. Over the years, I’ve done many things – from group sales to modeling to managing a restaurant to raising my two beautiful daughters. In each thing I’ve done, there is some little nugget of wisdom that comes in handy as a wedding planner. I got my first taste of wedding planning when helping out a friend with a small wedding company while they were on vacation. I was hooked and when the opportunity arose to become a full-time wedding coordinator, I jumped at the chance. I began my coordinating career at the 5-Star Hawaiian Resort, The Kapalua Bay Hotel, servicing high-end weddings for groups of 2 – 200. Branching out on my own in 2000, The Perfect Wedding was born. As an independent, I focus on quality and not quantity. I only accept one wedding booking per day to ensure that you’ll have my full attention. I utilize only the best of the vendor talents available on Maui and do my best to match not only budgets & style, but personalities of the vendors with the wedding couples as well for the most successful weddings & receptions possible. With hundreds of successful weddings in my portfolio and nearly two decades of wedding planning experience, I’m a tried & true choice to be your planning partner.

LOVES ~ sunsets and moon rises, rainbows and butterflies, mocha cappuccino, a glass of wine, gourmet dark chocolate, hula, getting a great shopping deal, spending time with girlfriends and relaxing at the beach.

Fun Fact – Cherise was crowned Miss Teen USA 1984 on live international tv from Memphis, Tennessee (representing Illinois). That kicked off a year of traveling as a youth ambassador. She made appearances with celebrities and on countless radio and tv shows, charity events and in parades, including the Rose Bowl Parade, alongside her pageant sisters Miss USA and Miss UNIVERSE.

Meet Angelei

Wedding Assistant

At many of our private estate weddings you’ll get to meet my best assistant and sweet daughter, Angelei. She is a breath of fresh air – bubbly sunshine and a total sweetheart. She has a creative streak that makes her great at artfully arranging items from escort cards to seashells décor to photos. She’s also a budding photographer so when I give her a break you’ll see her with her camera capturing images of each beautiful event. At some weddings you’ll get to meet my other amazing assistant and daughter, Meleiana. She got spunk, drive, brains and beauty. Her attention to detail is amazing. She’s also a college student and will be available mostly for summer weddings from 2023 on.

Smart, sassy (in a good way), sweet and accomplished.

It is with great sadness at our loss, mixed with the joy and pleasure of having known and loved Kristie that we post this update.

Our sweet Kristie has left this world

just a week after the horrific Lahaina fires of Aug 2023, which she barely escaped. Kristie was an amazing wedding assistant and dear friend. Those of you who had the pleasure of meeting her know that she had an infectious smile, sparkly personality, can do attitude and was smart, funny, kind, generous to a fault and just a sparkly shining star in the world. Her beautiful energy is greatly missed. I adored you, sweet girl. Love you and miss you so much. Rest In Peace.

Our original “About” post on Krisite: Kristie has been in the industry for years. I actually kinda stole her from my friend’s planning company in Dayton (not really stole her – she moved to Maui so was available). She is amazing! Her talents are endless…did you know if you are a marching band kid you are awesome at walking backwards while carrying tables without tripping? LOL. She is the perfect blend of work horse and artful arranger mixed with problem solver, seamstress, carpenter and more! On top of all of that, she’s so fun and colorful and cute and a joy to be around. Truly she is a gem.
