Frannie & Mac’s Moody Tropical Olowalu Wedding

Tropical Moodiness – Frannie & Mac’s Stunning Maui Wedding

Today, we’re diving into the beautiful celebration of Frannie & Mac at the Olowalu Plantation House, a wedding that was nothing short of magical.

A Heartwarming Ceremony

On a picture-perfect day, we were honored to help Frannie & Mac tie the knot in the stunning setting of the Olowalu Plantation House.  From the scenic backdrop to the intimate touches, every detail of their special day was a testament to their unique love story and vibrant personalities.

One of the standout moments of the ceremony was the adorable participation of Pachi, the couple’s beloved rescue dog. Having been a survivor of the Maui fires, Pachi’s journey to this joyous occasion was truly heartwarming. Pachi, couldn’t contain his excitement as he practically dragged his handler down the aisle to greet Mac. His joyful energy brought smiles to everyone’s faces. And let’s not forget their dignified older dog, Strider, who also played a significant role in the ceremony, acting with dignity and loyalty.

Spectacular Decor and Personal Touches

Their ceremony arch was a masterpiece – a rustic wooden arch adorned with large tropical floral arrangements and a braided ti leaf curtain.  At the head of the aisle – custom-made wooden columns with vibrant tropical arrangements added to the spectacular beauty. These columns later flanked the sweetheart table at the reception, making the transition seamless.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed fun Lawn games and comfy lounge seating on the lawn overlooking the ocean and islands off-shore. The reception was filled with personal touches that truly reflected the couple’s bond. Custom cookies adorned with likenesses of their three dogs (their third pup, Bruce was unable to attend the wedding) were a delightful feature at the dessert bar, while napkins printed with playful messages—”drinks on us” and “sweets on us”—added a personal touch to the bar and dessert station.

Tropical Moody Vibes

Embracing a “tropical moody” theme, the wedding decor was a stunning blend of deep, lush greens, vibrant tropical oranges, and crisp whites, enhanced by dramatic black elements. A life-size black acrylic seating chart, black charger plates over green woven place mats, and dark vessels for the floral arrangements created a moody yet elegant ambiance. Colored water goblets in amber and deep green added a pop of color, enhancing the beauty of the table settings.

As the sun set, the sky lit up in a palette of oranges, corals, and peaches, perfectly complementing the day’s color scheme. A special highlight was the cake topper, a thoughtful surprise from the bride’s parents. Crafted in spun glass, it featured a scuba diver and a spear fisherman, symbolizing how Frannie and Mac met. Frannie, a scuba instructor in Lahaina, first met Mac on a diving tour, and their love story blossomed from there, eventually leading Mac to Maui to be close to his bride.

An Evening to Remember

The evening was filled with unforgettable moments captured beautifully by our talented photographer, Amber. The celebration kicked off with a touching first dance, followed by a dance of the couple with Mac’s young sons, setting the stage for a lively dance floor. Heartfelt toasts brought the celebration to a close, leaving everyone with warm memories of a day filled with love, laughter, and joy.

Yoori & John’s Laughter-Filled Maui Pineapple Chapel Wedding

Yoori + John’s fun celebration at the Maui Pineapple Chapel in Kapalua

Planning a destination wedding can be as thrilling as it is challenging, but when all the pieces come together, the result is pure magic. Such was the case for Yoori and John, whose dream wedding at the Pineapple Chapel in Kapalua, Maui, was an event to remember.

Yoori and John’s journey to their wedding day was a testament to patience and resilience. Originally scheduled to take place before the pandemic, their wedding was postponed several times. Ultimately, they had to find a new location when their first choice stopped holding events. They chose the picturesque Pineapple Chapel, and the Mau’u Terrace for their ceremony and cocktail hour. With stunning ocean views, the terrace provided a serene and romantic backdrop for their vows.

Yoori wore a breathtaking vintage-inspired beaded gown that sparkled with elegance and timeless beauty. Her dress set the tone for an event filled with love, joy, and laughter. The ceremony was a heartfelt exchange of vows, witnessed by family and friends who had traveled from near and far to celebrate with them. Adding to the joy, a group of their friends surprised them with a fun presentation during the ceremony, causing lots of laughter and making the day even more memorable.

Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a cocktail hour with fresh coconuts being opened on the spot and lawn games to keep everyone entertained. Marvin Tevaga’s Hawaiian music provided the perfect soundtrack to this picturesque moment.

The reception took place on the Makai Lawn under a white-topped tent adorned with a cluster of rattan lanterns over the dance floor. This chic setup created an inviting atmosphere for a night of celebration. The DJ kept the energy high, ensuring that the dance floor was never empty.

Yoori and John added personal touches that made their wedding uniquely theirs. Two specialty drinks, named after their beloved pets Lotto and Tails, were a hit with the guests. These custom cocktails were a fun and memorable way to incorporate their furry family members into the festivities.  The couple chose to name their tables after places they have visited together that held a special place in their hearts.  Custom table signs, seating chart and welcome sign were created just for them by Tropigal Calligraphy.

Yoori and John’s wedding was not just an event; it was a celebration of love, resilience, and the joy of being surrounded by loved ones. Their story is a beautiful reminder that even in the face of challenges, love finds a way to shine through. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Maui, let Yoori and John’s enchanting day inspire you to create your own unforgettable celebration on Maui.

Yoori had the cutest moment when her dad saw her for the first time, all dressed in her wedding gown and veil.  Matias captured the sweet moment as a reflection in the mirror.  Afterwards, her dad helped her put on her wedding shoes!
